Flaky salmon coated in everything bagel seasoning and stuffed with zesty scallion cream cheese. A delicious dinner in 15 minutes!
The Inspiration
Everything bagels are my favorite bagels of all time. The combination of seasonings create a nutty, salty, and garlicky sensation.
I love sprinkling everything seasoning on avocado toast and was trying to think about how to incorporate it into other main dishes.
This recipe is inspired by everything bagel lox sandwiches with scallion cream cheese.
Why You'll Love this Recipe
- It's an easy dinner made in 15 minutes!
- It's super flavorful with the everything bagel seasoning and scallions.
- It only requires a handful of ingredients.
Ingredients
- Salmon- this recipe can be made with other fish filets. Adjust the cooking time based on the thickness and type of fish.
- Dijon mustard- regular mustard will also work.
- Everything bagel seasoning- adjust it to your taste.
- Cream cheese- Neufchâtel cheese works as well.
- Scallions- I used the white and green parts of the scallion. Chives or minced red onion can be substituted.
- Lemon- adds acidity and brightens up the dish. Fresh is best.
How to Make Everything Bagel Salmon Stuffed with Scallion Cream Cheese
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Place the salmon filets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make slits in the center of the salmon filets ⅔s of the way vertically.
- Coat the salmon with dijon mustard and everything bagel seasoning.
- Mix the cream cheese with scallions, salt and pepper.
- Stuff the salmon with the cream cheese mixture. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until desired doneness.
Tasty Tips
- Don't overcook the salmon! According to the FDA, salmon is cooked at 145°F. However, I personally like my salmon medium rare 125-130°F or medium 135-140°F. This creates a flaky salmon that is still moist and tender.
- Adjust the cooking time based on the thickness of the salmon.
- Make only enough for what you can eat immediately. I don't recommend reheating salmon as it tends to dry it out.
FAQs
I like serving this with rice, salad or a vegetable side dish. Try maple soy brussels sprouts, Chinese broccoli, or green beans with shiitake mushrooms.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat in the microwave or in the oven at 300°F until warm. Don't overheat or the salmon can get dry. I recommend only making enough salmon for what you can eat immediately.
