These dog cupcakes are made with wholesome and simple ingredients. It's the perfect treat for birthdays or just because for your furry friend!
Leo the Fluffy Corgi
This recipe is dedicated to our precious pup Leo! He's our first pet and my first dog ever. I never knew how much I could love a dog until Leo. Pups give unconditional love and he truly is a member of our family.
I made these for Leo to bring to daycare to share with his friends and for a corgi picnic meet up!
He goes crazy around the house when I whip these up. The smell of peanut butter, banana, and cream cheese...I mean can you blame him?!
Why Your Dog Will Love This Recipe
- It has peanut butter, banana, and cream cheese, a trifecta of favorite flavors!
- It has carrots for extra vitamins!
- It doesn't contain any oil.
- The frosting is light and fluffy. A little bit of heavy cream does the trick!
- It's topped with a biscuit! A treat on top of a treat!
Ingredients
Cupcake Variations
- Whole wheat flour can be used instead of oat flour.
- Use pumpkin puree or applesauce instead of banana.
- Instead of carrots, add blueberries, zucchini, green beans, cheese, or bacon!
- Substitute the frosting with just whipped heavy cream.
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, mix banana, egg, carrot, and peanut butter.
- Fold in oat flour and baking powder until just combined.
- Spray a muffin tin with cooking spray. Fill each cup with batter to the top.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- In a stand mixer, whisk cream cheese, peanut butter, and heavy cream until fluffy.
- Place the frosting in a piping bag and frost the pupcakes. Top with dog biscuits.
Tasty Tips
- Mash the bananas on a cutting board or plate, it's a lot easier than in a bowl!
- Make your own oat flour. Place a cup of quick cook oats in a food processor and blend until powdery.
- Smooth out the top of the batter to create a rounded shape. Dip your finger in water then press it on the batter before baking.
- Skip the cupcake liners. Use cupcake liners if you'd like for decorative purposes but I think these look cute as is! Less work for you to remove the liners.
- Pipe the frosting with a decorating tip for an extra fancy touch. I used the Wilton 1M tip.
- Top with your dog's favorite treat.
Disclaimer
- This is a special treat that should only be enjoyed once in a while.
- Feed at your discretion and consult a vet before feeding your dog unfamiliar foods.
- Be cognizant of any of your furry friend's allergies.
- Make sure to use natural peanut butter that doesn't contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
Storing & Freezing
Store them in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to a month. If freezing, freeze the frosting separately, defrost then whip again.

Maggie says
Does the nutritional info include the frosting or just the pupcake?
Jenny says
Hi Maggie- Yes, the nutrition estimate includes the cake and frosting, but does not include the biscuits.
Samantha says
If substituting the banana for pumpkin purée or apple sauce, how much should I use?
Jenny says
Hi Samantha, 2 bananas is about 1 cup mashed. You can use 1 cup of pumpkin purée or apple sauce instead.
Christo says
Do you have the nutritional content without the frosting. It sates to feed this in moderation but without the frosting I’m assuming daily should be fine? My pup LOVES these and he’s had without frosting daily.
Thank you
