Creamy Peanut Butter Noodles in 10 minutes!
Peanut butter noodles remind me of the days when my family and I would go to Chinatown on Sundays to get groceries for the restaurant. My parents lived and breathed the restaurant- my version of spending time with them was going to the restaurant after school to do homework and as I got older- helped them take orders, package and deliver food to customers.
I didn't grow up with after school activities, family vacations and sit down dinners. As a kid, I felt some resentment that my life revolved around the restaurant but as I got older, I understood and appreciated what my parents did for us (my brother and me), they came to a new country with no English, started two businesses, fed us (maybe a little too well), put a roof over our heads and put two kids in college.
My parents didn't want us to take over the family business, they came to America so their children could have a brighter future and not work 100 hours a week.
As I sit here writing this blog post, I tear up thinking about how much they've done for us.
Waking up at 6 AM to go to Chinatown on Sunday was also my version of spending time with them. We would get bulk produce for the restaurant and Hong Kong milk tea and buns from local bakeries.
Sometimes we would have breakfast downstairs at East Broadway Mall and order a bowl of Fuzhounese fish & pork dumplings, steamed pork buns and peanut butter noodles. I always thought the peanut butter noodles were too watery and didn't have enough peanut butter so over the years I made peanut butter noodles at home.
Peanut butter noodles are a traditional Fuzhounese breakfast dish and this recipe is ultra creamy!
I used Wonton noodles but this recipe tastes just as good with any noodle you have on hand! Spaghetti, rice noodles, soba noodles, ramen or udon noodles!

Can you recommend something replace the hoisin sauce? I'd like to try this sauce recipe, but don't want to by a bottle of hoisin if I'll only be using 2 tsp. Also, I have celiac disease, so need a sub anyway! Thank you.

Hi Monika- they make gluten free hoisin sauce now! Try 1/4 teaspoon of sugar since it is the main ingredient in hoisin sauce. You can also omit the hoisin sauce since we have the prominent flavors of peanut butter, soy sauce, and sesame oil so there may only be a slight difference in flavor.
