The Inspiration
We went to Las Vegas for our anniversary and I tried a monte cristo crepe at La Creperie. It had ham, swiss, and turkey with strawberry sauce and powdered sugar on top. I had to recreate it at home because it was such a delicious combination!

This recipe sounds and looks fancy, and yet it's so quick and easy to make! 15 minutes is all you need!
Ingredients & Variations
The original monte cristo is made with ham and gruyere cheese, and variations also include turkey.
Feel free to use your favorite cheese whether it be American, provolone, or cheddar.
I made this recipe with just ham but you can include turkey too.
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, add flour, sugar, salt, milk, water, egg, and melted butter. Whisk until smooth.
- On medium heat, lightly grease an 8 inch skillet with butter and add ¼ cup of batter into the pan. Tilt the pan in a circular motion until the batter coats the pan evenly. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Flip and immediately layer a slice of ham and swiss cheese.
- Fold the crepe in half and then in half again. Repeat with remaining batter. Dust powdered sugar and drizzle strawberry preserves on top.
Tasty Tips
- Use a nonstick pan. This will make it easy to lift the delicate crepe and prevent sticking.
- It doesn't need to be perfect! The first one or two crepes might not look the best but it will still be delicious! Don't worry if the crepe isn't perfectly round or level, just try your best!
- Make the batter the night before and refrigerate to make breakfast easier.
- To drizzle strawberry preserves on top of the crepe, warm up the preserves and place it in a Ziploc or piping bag. Cut a corner off and drizzle the preserves over the crepes.
